Additional Therapies
At Jade Path Acupuncture & Herbal Medicine all of the additional therapies are offered as part of our standard acupuncture sessions. Your practitioner will determine if any of these modalities are suitable for your presentation and treatment during your appointment.

Guasha
Guasha is a traditional Chinese medicine technique that involves a gentle scraping of the skin with a smooth rounded edge tool. This technique is frequently used on patients who feel like they are catching a cold and also for pain management.
Guasha involves palpation, usually of the neck, shoulders and upper back, with the simulateous stimulation of the guasha tool on the skin. The stroking of the guasha tool produces a reddish, raised area called “sha” that disappears in 2-3 days.

Moxibustion
Moxibustion is a traditional Chinese medical technique that involves the burning of the herb Ai Ye (Artemesia Vulgaris, commonly known as mugwort) near an acupuncture point in order to facilitate healing. The purpose of performing moxabustion is to warm the local area, improve blood circulation and encourage the smooth flow of energy in the body.
Patients usually report that the pleasant warming sensation gives them a deeper sense of relaxation when moxibustion is used during their treatment. When appropriate, moxibustion is included in your private acupuncture treatment.
Treatable Conditions
Acupuncture can be used to treat many health conditions, from chronic pain to chronic disease. The National Institute of Health and the World Health Organization recognize that Acupuncture can be effective in treating a large variety of conditions.
