My Journey to TCM

At some point, almost all of my new patients ask me about how I got into acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). And, depending on the amount of time I have, the answer may be the short version or long version. I love telling it because I hope that it instills a sense of hope and you-can-do attitude. I know I enjoy hearing the story about how people get to the jobs they are in, so here in a nutshell, this is my journey to TCM.

Thank you for listening to my story. I hope this share helps someone keep reaching for their purpose. After 6 years of bouncing jobs I hated, I found what lit me up and I went back to school when I was 29. Let me tell you, when you find “that thing” you can’t go wrong. It definitely helped that I had a supportive family and a boyfriend (now husband) who was behind me every step of the way.

A few things leading to my journey to TCM:

  • #1 was to find out what type of work resonated with my heart
  • Researched careers that satisfied that criteria
  • Talked with current students of the program
  • Sat in classes to better understand curriculum
  • Be FEARLESS

This education and career has changed my life from the inside out. I honestly can say I can’t imagine NOT going to school for Traditional Chinese Medicine. The friends and colleagues I made and the perspective I’ve gained is invaluable.
