Why I Love What I Do: An Acupuncturist’s Confession

Why I Love What I Do:  An Acupuncturist’s Confession

I have a confession to make.  Ready?  Here it goes–  I LOVE what I do.

How many people can say that they truly love their work?  How many people are doing the work that they know they are destined to do in their heart of hearts?

Now, for those of you how know me now, this confession may not sound all that shocking. However, it took me a long time to find my niche. Through my 20’s I was deeply concerned about my future and finding work that I loved. Through all my searching, I never questioned that what I did for a living would need to be aligned with deep joy and helping others.  I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to dabble in other professions even though eventually I found them unfulfilling, disingenuous, or extremely stressful. That experience made me glad that I had the patience and fortitude to continue the search for a career that resonating with me on all levels.

It wasn’t until I discovered Traditional Chinese Medicine that I finally was able to experience a deep sense of relief and peace about my future.  The reason I bring this up is because I see that many of my patients are not doing work that they love.. and I think this is a MAJOR reason why their health is less than optimal.

Now, what about you?  Do you feel uplifted, inspired, and fully engaged going to work every day?  Or does your work leave you feeling depleted, anxious, bored, or empty in your life?  It’s generally going to be one or the other, right?

What I want to suggest to you is this:  If you’re not doing what you love, life is too short to tolerate this for any lengthy period of time.  You deserve more than this.  Even more so, until your work aligns with your deeper purpose and values, your health will NEVER be at the level you want it to be.  You can eat all of the organic food, get all of the exercise, and do all of the stress reduction techniques you want– if you’re not passionate about your daily work, there will always be a hole in the foundation of your health.

A  big reason why I love what I do is that I’m in a position to help people like you really take control of their health and life on many levels.  Nothing, absolutely nothing, makes me happier than seeing my patients get healthy enough to make lifestyle changes that empower them and lead to more fulfillment and well-being.  This IS possible for you too, are you ready? If so, contact me if you’d like to discuss how I can help you in this regard. Cheers!
