This is the Good Type of Smoke to Feel Better
I was interviewed by WebMD about the practice of burning sage, also known as Smudging. WebMD and smudging?! How cool is that?!
If you have no idea what I’m talking about, read the blogpost I wrote last year.
Since the author had already read that article, I shared with her the subtle energies affected by sage burning. So I wanted to share it with you as well.
With smudging, we are using something physical, the smoke (which is already ethereal in its nature) to address something non-physical (the electromagnetic fields around the body).
Stay with me here… Our emotions are simply reflections of energy vibrating at certain frequencies. Read that last sentence again. For example, one of the lowest frequencies equates to the emotions of shame, guilt, low self esteem. So when you’re feeling this way, you’re in a low frequency state. Whereas the highest frequencies equate to emotions like joy and love. So when you’re feeling that way, you’re emitting a very high frequency, you’re in a very high frequency state. Check out the vibrational scale of emotions for a visual.
Smoke from the sage attaches itself to the negative energy and transmutes it. Basically you want to burn sage when you’re in those low frequency states to shift into a higher frequency.
So if you’ve had a bad day, an argument, you’ve moved into a new home and it feels weird, these are perfect times to smudge. You can also do it on a regular basis. I call this energetic house cleaning.
Smudging is also scientifically proven to destroy disease causing airborne bacteria. So even if you don’t want to embrace the “woo” there are still scientific benefits for smudging. Oh, and if you don’t like smoke or have respiratory issues, my Smudge Spray is amazing! 🙂
